SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS

School Bus Drivers are responsible for presenting a professional, positive company image as they safely drive students to and from school or school events. Successful candidates must be 18 years old, with the ability to obtain a valid CDL driver’s license. Pre-employment training and ongoing in-service training is available.

TYPE III VAN DRIVERS

Type III Van Drivers are responsible for presenting a professional, positive company image as they safely drive students to and from school. Successful candidates must be 18 years old, with a valid driver’s license. Ongoing in-service training is available.

AIDES

Aides manage student behavior and safety on board the bus while loading and unloading passengers, cooperating closely with the bus driver and school officials. This position requires the ability to assist students on or off the lifts, properly secure wheelchairs, and assist students in getting on and off the bus safely. Some monitors work with special needs passengers on assigned routes.

FLEET MECHANICS

Successful candidates will have experience working on buses and be able to perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all bus systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and drivelines, and electrical. ASE certification is preferred. High school degree or GED, and technical training on bus engines are required. Candidates must possess a current, valid driver’s license.

BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN

Body Shop Technician should have a passion for auto body repair. Must have the ability to handle and work in a fast paced environment. Person should be self-motivated, reliable and can work well with others. Must be be able to use hand tools, previous metal and paint experience is a plus.

TRAINING

DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM

Paid training is available for those who want to become a school bus driver for Palmer Bus Service, including preparation for the written CDL exam, road evaluations, and classroom and additional behind-the-wheel instruction. The preparedness of our school bus drivers, and the way in which we comply with regulations, is vital to the safety of the students we transport. It is our goal to hire and train people who are committed to maintaining Palmer Bus Services reputation as an industry leader. School bus drivers receive special training in safety and security, undergo regular drug and alcohol testing, and receive regular driving record checks.

SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING

Palmer Bus Service has implemented Safe Pupil as our Learning Management System. An interactive training supplement to our more traditional behind-the-wheel training methods, the web-based platform can be accessed from any computer with Internet capability. Training modules cover a variety of material including safety, behavioral, leadership, and interpersonal skills with content created to deliver an engaging and innovative approach to employee training.
